prizewinner

On the 14th of May the Form One students competed in the annual choral speaking competition.  It was held after school in the hall with the Form Two students attending.  A wonderful time was had by all. Our hosts for the afternoon were Bonnie and Coco from 2A and Bosco and Amy from 2B – they did such a good job of keeping everyone entertained.

Miss Wun’s Form 1A class was the first to perform.  They made a great first impression and definitely wowed the judges.  All the classes did an amazing job.  The performances ended with Miss Kwan’s Form 1B class.  It felt like we came full circle when they performed “Two little kittens” too!

Here is the full list of performances:

1.       1A WLH Two little kittens

2.       1D KSC Band-aid Mania

3.       1C CYA Flying Popcorn

4.       1A YSH When Sarah surfs the Internet

5.       1C FYC Crazy Dinosaurs

6.       1B LWK Crazy Dinosaurs

7.       1B KSC Two little kittens

Following the performances, the audience had a chance to win some prizes too.  Miss Janie asked the students some questions about the poems.  The students had obviously paid close attention to the performances because answering the questions was a breeze.

After that some of our students who did well at the Hong Kong Speech Festival recited their poems.  What a surprise when Vivian Chan appeared as a video rather than in person! After her, Charlene Yip and Peter So recited their poems.  What a treat to see our students perform!

The moment drew closer, and the F1s were getting pretty nervous…

The Principal arrived on the stage to present the prizes.  The prize for creativity went to F1D with their funny use of band-aids to illustrate the poem.  F1C (CYA) won the prize for cooperation since they had such wonderful team spirit.  The second runner-up was F1B (KSC) for their good performance of Two Little Kittens.  It must have been tough to decide on the winners! First runner-up was F1A (YSH); they were wonderful performers who put a lot of effort into their piece When Sarah surfs the Internet. And finally, the winner was announced: F1A (WLH) who wowed the judges from the beginning with the opening poem Two Little Kittens.

It was an exciting and very fun afternoon and we cannot wait for next year!
